packman 11.2 repo

anybody knows when packman for 11.2 will be available? is it after the official release of opensuse or during the milestone cicle? -

  • second question: does anybody know how to install nvidia driver in milestone 3?

The Packman repo is usually up and running a few months before an official release. In most cases (in the past) you are pretty safe to use the current Packman repo.

Yes, I used the 11.1 packman repo on M1/2/3 to test some multimedia. I installed much less than I do for 11.1, to avoid introducing additional problems. Essential from packman is libxine1, and libxine1-codecs if the normal fluendo codecs aren’t sufficient. That was enough to use amarok for mp3, and kaffeine for video. If you want to test commercial DVD, you need libdvdcss from the videolan repo, but you probably know that.

I had to install the Nvidia driver for my GS8400 using the hard way. (11.2
Milestone 3). Using the drivers in the repo kept giving me two dependency
errors. Never found the missing files. Using the hard way (Information
available on Nvidia website, may also be in opensuse how - too) the driver
works.

I do get the old checkerboard problem on boot but I also get that with the
driver on my 11.1 system. There is a alter driver in beta but I have not
tried it.

There is a fix for that, you have to edit the kdm theme or something and
change 1/2 lines IIRC.

I am sure I have seen it posted on the hardware group lately.

I do not use the SuSE login screen so do not have that prob.
