I have a question about yast more specific the package manager in the colum installed / available the numbers are black others re red.
What does it mean? do i need to update something?
Howe? i tried everything but no solution.
I am on Leap 15 kde standard fresh install did ad repo Packman.
black
are the ones installed, no further comment; - blue
are available newer versions then the ones that are installed; - red
are those that are installed, but have no repo (any more) they belong to; can be packages where only older versions are available because of a fall back of the package (bug in installed version forces it to be dropped, older one should replace it); also removal of a repo will make packets installed from them turn red.
Just adding the Packman repo does only add it to the list of repos. It does not result in “automatic” installation of packages. In the case of Packman you most likely added it to get your multi-media going. You should then use it by doing the “vendor switch to Packman”.
To do the Vendor switch:
YaST > Software Management, then from the View menu choose Repositories. Then in the list of repos, select Packman. At right, above the list of Packages there is a line saying something like: Switch system packages to … Click on the underlined part and continue low-right
When you have some red ones you want to ask about, please do so. Normally you should not have many red ones. Either you know they are there because you e.g. installed them directly from am RPM and not from a repo. Or you know because you removed a repo. In those cases the red ones are explained. But other cases might need attention.
You can always select a package in the list at right and then use the Versions button below to see which version is installed and all those that are available in the repos. That may help in understanding why.
Everything is fine now, did some fiddling with the repo`s,
it as been a while i did use opensuse. (work did force me towards Redmond OS), but its fine to be back!
