Package of the day - vmware-fix-workstation-6.5.5

So I finally got around to installing vmware workstation on my Gnome 3.0 system, as per usual the 2.6.37 kernel and the vmware modules needed patching.

I found a patch here on a thread about openSUSE 11.4 VMware Communities: workstation 6.5.5 doesn’t compile with…

So with some modifications to my vmware-fix rpm I have created a new rpm called vmware-fix-workstation-6.5.5 just for openSUSE 11.4

I have also updated the SDB article : Installing VMware server or workstation which contains the details on how to install etc here SDB:Installing VMware server or workstation - openSUSE

Hello,
I read both links you mention on your post and try to follow all the instructions I found. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the patch you mention in http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Installing_VMware_server_or_workstation. That’s a pity, the walk-through is quite clear and I thank you for writing it. It seems that no vmware-fix package exist anymore… I only found something in google’s cache of the page: https://build.opensuse.org/package/files?package=vmware-fix-workstation-6.5.5&project=home%3Amalcolmlewis%3ATesting
Obviously, the download link won’t work. Could you attach the patch in the forum?

I am trying to install whatever version of VMware Workstation (currently 6.5.5) in an openSUSE 11.4 with kernel version 2.6.37.6-0.11.

Regarding this post (http://communities.vmware.com/message/1747119) I downloaded the patch attached in the first message but I didn’t know what to do with it. How am I supposed to install/run it?

Cheers,
