Hanging out in IRC #opensuse-chat, I noticed that a user was talking about mandelbrot and specifically mandelbulber which is hosted here Mandelbulber now I had packaged up a previous version a long time ago but had deleted it from OBS. Time to update 
So after re-creating the package in my Miscellaneous repository it built and worked fine, however there was only the command line version to start, so added and icon from the main website along with an appropriate desktop file for the menus and it’s good to go 
mandelbulber can be found here get it for SLE11_SP1, openSUSE 11.3, 11.4 and Factory (a.k.a 12.1).
