Package missing from Kernel Stable Repository

What has happened with package kernel-desktop in the kernel stable repository? It is missing, and has been so for some time.
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/

So if the bbswitch-kmp-desktop from bumblebee repository
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Bumblebee/Kernel_stable_standard

I cannot upgrade anything in these two repositories while these two packages are missing.

Using the latest stable kernel on openSUSE 13.2

Hi
The desktop variant is dead and merged back into default…
https://features.opensuse.org/319416
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kernel/2015-09/msg00006.html

and which will be used in the future for leap or 13.2?? -default or pae??
Merge kernel-desktop back into kernel-default / kernel-pae

  • CONFIG_PREEMPT=y
  • CONFIG_HZ=1000
  • vm.dirty_ratio=20

what these configs imply??

Hi
Leap still has a desktop flavor (SLE 12 has the default flavor), no pae these days is there (tumbleweed no)? AFAIK, it’s still in limbo until they figure out the change implications…

  • FAQ/Preemption - Linux Kernel Newbies
  • kernel timer, think modern systems are better hence the increase. I’m guessing some hardware will still require less than that.
  • How much percentage of dirty data in ram.

A silly remark but isn’t PAE useful for 32bit OS’s and afaik sle12 and Leap will be x64 only, there does seam to be a 32bit version of Tumbleweed not sure for how long tho, I thought all 32bit development would be stopped.

Hi
The 32 bit libs are still built, not tested as a 32bit package/image though. If community members step up and create a ‘port’ then it can be provided, else it will just be x86_64 images…

So the conclusion is: Install kernel-default

Hi
In that repo it’s the only one present now, so yes
