package lock and Yast online updates

does anyone know if you use zypper to put a package lock (zypper la kernel) will yast follow it or overwrite it when doing on-line updates?

found the answer to my own question:

No, Yast and zypper are not connected. Yast will not honor any package locks set by zypper. Recommend that you pick either yast or zypper as an update tool and stick to it.

YaST is a GUI front end for Zypper…they are the same…

palladium, are you sure? I set a zypper la kernel* and it locked my kernel from updating, but when I ran a yast update, it ignored it and wanted to update my kernel. this is on a suse 11.1 box, running mysql, and apache.
