overheating with 11.2 on acer aspire?

i was happily using open suse 11.2 rc2 on my laptop for a couple days, then it started overheating ?this seems to be a problem with other releases karmic 9.10,mandrivia 2010,open suse 11.2?
im baffled what could be causing this?the 31 kernel?
or some acpi setting.i might add it overheated during the install as well?any clue?help would be greatly appreciated!!

The first thing to check whether some process is using a lot of cpu by running
top in a terminal. I have had gnome-do run away a number of times. If you find
one, just kill it.

i tried top but nothing was happening no runaway process.
im back using 11.1,wich is fine.sure wanted to try 11.2 though!
thanks for the tip.

On some laptops (my Toshiba Satellite and also Lenovos, I believe) the fan control won’t work properly without the line “acpi_osu=Linux” added to the boot options in the grub menu. This might just help you too (then again, it might not…).
