Hi all
I have problems with my legacy card FX5200
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/173.14.15/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.15-pkg1.run
I take this driver…
with earlier versions i have false…
Go to Yast>Software>Software Management
Search for and install if you don’t have these:
make
gcc
kernel-source
Now download the latest Nvidia driver:
Place the file in your /home/username
Now restart and at the boot screen, pause the boot by moving the down button, then move back up and clear any text in the boot arguments by holding backspace. Then just type the number: 3
At the login
Type “root” then enter and then your root password and press enter.
now type
cd /home/username
*Now remember you can use the {TAB} key to auto complete
so type:
sh NVIDIA{TAB}
and the whole file name should auto complete
eg: sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.09-pkg1.run
Follow the installer and let it compile the kernel module for you.
Say Yes to everything
Use TAB to move around
reboot
sorry but this did not work for me…
of course I have gcc make kernel-source in stalled…
when compilling module it take 100% it false… with some error…
i try *173.14.09 *173.14.12 *173.14.15
only last pass all for me…
other fault about 100% building kernel module…
all this i run in runlevel 3
hm… i can use console i know about runlevel 3 and 5
it can be placed everywhere where I can find it… it does not matter… where I place run file…
I succesfully install nvidia drivers in this way from SuSE 9.3
but with versions *173.14.09 *173.14.12 I have a problem…
cheers
