OS suspends at least twice before logging in, here's the boot error log

Issue: as the title says, my laptop (generated in 2011, old) suspends at least twice before logging into the desktop environment. One happens before the log-in interface appears, I need to press the power button to wake it up and it continues, the other one happens when I press the Enter button after typing password (about 2~3 seconds later after press the Enter button), I still need to press power button to wake it up and press the Enter button again, then I enter the desktop environment and everything goes fine.

Suspend twice means that I type password and press Enter button immediately when the log-in interface appears. If I do not type password and leave it alone, OS would suspend many a time after I wake it up.

Actually, this issue happens in almost all linux distributions (kernel version = 3.x & 4.x), it confuses me for a long time.

Would be very appreciated for your help!

Here’s the boot error log from /var/log/warn

I had a desktop computer that worked well for me. But, around the beginning of 2017, it started to misbehave. During boot up, it would power down. It was usually okay on the second try.

It progressively got worse. After around 3 months of this behavior, it got to the point that I could never get it to complete booting.

I sent it to the electronic recycling center.

It was very likely a failing power supply. Probably one or more of the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply was failing. I probably should have looked into that. But it was 10 years old and getting slow relative to newer computers.

This might be completely unrelated to your issue. My point, however, is that computers do get old and eventually fail. Maybe your laptop is nearing its end-of-life.

Have you ever opened it up and cleaned the air passages, the fan, and the cooling fins?

It has to be on its duty in my office, as my office PC is too old.

It has to be on its duty in my office, as my office PC is much older than it.

The laptop’s screws are all gone, as I often open it to do cleaning.

Could absence of a screw be causing an absent ground? It’s not unusual for an electrical problem to appear to be a software problem.
