oS 13.2 RC1 guest gets black screens in VMware while rebooting

On my VMware Player 6.0.3 and VMware Fusion 7.0 on the Mac 10.9.5 I see an issue, that opensuse 13.2 RC1 guest gets black screens in VMware window after initiating rebooting. It happes from inside KDE and also on terminal. The pitty is, that not only the opensuse 13.2 RC1 guest converts to blac screen, it also never comes to end and stalls. The machine state keep running, and only a forced shutdown by closing the virtual machine helps.

As ist happens on Latest VMware Player and also Fusion 7 I’m getting impression that is a more common issue? I normaly use vmtools provided by opensuse only, but I tried Vmware’s internal one too, but it also fails. Only good news is, that opensuse 13.1 is totally working fine in regards to rebooting.

To mention, it happens only on installed system environment, the live system from DVD is always rebooting fine.

Any idea or suggestion, how to fix this? Am I the onl one or was this discovered even before?

Thanks and best regards!

Forgot to mention, it is opensuse 13.2 RC1 in 64bit and KDE Live image as basis, that I used.

Have you tried booting in failsafe to see if this remedies the issue?

Hi,

I just set up a new oS 13.2 RC1 to test this out for simplest reproduction:

-> Install to HDD -> Reboot -> OK -> Reboot complete and 1st time ever starting into KDE environment -> Press Reboot in KDE start menu -> Blank screen

You asked for fail safe mode. Yes, when using safemode the reboot does not end in a black screen, but this comes with a price, as the whole X11 Display Manager is not starting up and is sending me directly to the terminal only. So, this might not be very comparable, but that’s, what my system is doing. Tested this on VMware Player this time.

I also tested to upgrade to latest factory packages, but did not improve or resolve this issue.
