hello,
I have an issue on my opensuse 11.4 : the soft windows are well rendered, but their moves are jerky.
I have found this thread : SuSE 11 - window behaviour - jerky slow, but I’m wondering about the relevancy of these handlings.
Must I do it?
thank you,
olivier.
PS: the installation of OS is very recent (today) and I have only installed oracle database xe 10g(removed after), and jdeveloper 11g (which runs well).
I had that problem back when I was running 10.1. I’m pretty sure it was because the video card was not well recognized by the available drivers. I tried the nvidia driver (from the nvidia site), and that fixed the problem.
I have not had similar problems in more recent versions.
My point: there’s a good chance that this is a video problem.

Hello lolveley, sorry to hear of your problems. I must say that it is doubtful anything in that old article would apply today, except that the issue might be video related. I suggest that you tell us a bit more about your computer, your video hardware, 32 or 64 bit and Desktop, KDE or GNOME. Perhaps we can think of something more then to try that might be helpful to you.
Thank You,
hello,
thanks for your answer.
the OS is opensuse 11.4 gnome x86,
the graphic card is a radeon HD4360(or4350 I don’t remember)
the processor is an intel core 2 duo.
which drivers for the graphics? proprietary are usually best
things are fine if you disable desktop effects?
Here is an article on installing the AMD/ATI proprietary video driver:
SDB:ATI drivers - openSUSE
You can search on ATI or Radeon here in the forum and find lots of hits on the subject.
Thank You,
thank you, I will try it and let you know the results ASAP.
