Opera 10.50 vs. Chrome 5

Hi

I can’t decide between those two browsers for my everyday browser.
Both are excellent, Opera’s only con is that many websites don’t support Presto or are wrongly display :
So right now I use both
Whats your favourite?

Vote goes for Chrome.
Opera image and font rendering are too bad at least for me.

Seeing as I’ve been using opera since version 7, my vote has to go to it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Concerning website compatibility, I haven’t run into any problems with the websites I regularly go to. Even when I’m surfing unknown websites, the only real problem I have with Opera is the NSL (never-stop-loading) issue, but every new release of Opera makes huge strides in reducing/eliminating this (in addition to adding tons of cool new features).

10.50, even though the Linux version is currently alpha, is awesome! The removal of the QT really helps improve system integration, and speeds the app up x10 (exaggeration). Also, now that it uses gstreamer as the plugin framework for html5 audio and video, I can go to any html5 website and not have to worry about what codec they’re choosing to support. That’s something that can’t be done on Windows, so it makes it even more cool!

Yes but if opera can use gstreamer in such a way so can firefox.

Do you guys have java working in 64 bit Opera?

Yup, it is enabled and working.

I use Chromium, not Chrome. So, the vote goes to Chrome.

How have you enable it? I have tried setting various java directories in Opera but none worked :\

I have java runtime installed, and after installing opera, it shows in about page that java is installed and running. I tried it in facebook features and it works. As i m not using opera frequently so i cant guide here how to enable and make it usable.

I have tried and tried to make Java work in Opera 64bit, but I just can’t make it work. I’ve had it working nicely on my 32bit system, but not since switching to 64bit.

I submitted a bug email to Opera, but of course I haven’t heard back from them. I doubt they’re too concerned as 64bit Linux is probably low on the list.

I need a working Java for my business transactions, so I’m using FF 3.6 now and it works well with Java.

Chrome won’t work for me at all.

Vote for Opera. Happy user since 9.50

are you running 10.60? which version of Java is installed? 64bit? do you have the browser sun-plugin installed?

fyi - you’re not supposed to do anything - Opera’s supposed to find and use it on it’s own

Works fine for me

Opera, Chrome doesn’t let me customize my toolbars which I’m addicted to
Also when all tabs are closed I don’t want the browser to close

Choice between FF and Chrome - Chrome as it’s so much faster
