OpenVPN and org.freedesktop.NetworkManager error

Hi,

I’m trying to solve a problem: Everytime i try to import an .ovpn config file to network manager i get the same error:
The name org.freedesktop.NetworkManager was not provided by any .service files

What am i doing wrong? I’ve even tried a manual config but the result was the same.

Am i missing some package or something???

(i’m on OpenSuse12.2 with KDE 4.9.1)

Thanks

I can only point you at this thread:

Maybe others can assist more directly.

Hi, thanks for the tip

I’ve found and solved the problem. I needed to go to *Yast > Network Devices > Network Settings > *Global Options tab and select User Controlled with NetworkManager

After that i was able to connect to the VPN.

Now i have another: when i’m connected to the VPN i can’t browse the web. :frowning:

Any idea???

Ok, just came back here to share the solution (in case anyone else has the problem):

The reason why i was not able to browse the web was because the Cable Network was using the VPN’s gateway. Since the VPN didn’t provide access to the WEB i could not load any web pages except for the ones provided within the VPN!!!

So, all i had to do was to get to the Configurations of the VPN network (in Network Manager) get to the IPv4 Address tab, select Routes from the drop-down box and mark the check box for “use only for the resources on the connection” (or something like this…)

After this everything was OK.
