Install goes smooth. Load everything fine. Reboot to boot loader just fine. When I select to load openSUSE…it goes through the loading phase, then when the desktop environment should load, it is all garbled. I am sure it is a driver issue with the vid card. The problem is, I do not know how to fix it.
It has been a few years since I touched Linux…and I am really rusty. I can still boot to level 3 and find my way around the folders and system…but have no idea what to do next.
Any suggestions? I read up a bit about Sax3 as an option and installing the Xorg info, but I am not sure how to go about getting it and installing it.
You need to try the nomodeset command. In the grub OS selection menu, just before you press the enter key to select the normal openSUSE startup, type in the kernel load option: nomodeset and then press the enter key. If this works for you, here is more info on loading the nVIDIA proprietary video driver.
Very happy to help cunokyle and Welcome to the openSUSE forums! Please, if we can help you in any other way, you only need to ask. And, if you can find your way to help someone else here as well, we would would love for you to give it a try.
