Hi everyone,
I am really amazed by Opensuse 11, but there is one problem I am facing post installation to truely enjoy and play with the OS.
Description of problem:
After installation of Opensuse 11 from the CD, I got a message to remove the CD and reboot the computer. Did that, and on the next start up, YaST continued to detect hardware, and etc.
Everything is fine except that YaST will display an error message for every boot up after that, saying: your previous installation has failed… with options to proceed or not.
If I click “Yes”, YaST will go through the same process as if I was booting up for the first time-- detect hardware, and etc. This will happen for every boot up.
I also notice that on the Opensuse 11 screen after the YaST sequence, the “install” icon is still on the desktop, it is as if I am on a liveCD environment (which I am sure I booted from the hard disk). The default user is also a liveCD user instead of the account that I have created.
I have re-installed many times thinking that I might have missed something during the installation process, and the same problem persist. I thought it might be a problem with KDE 4.0 and downloaded GNOME, and same problem as well.
Anyone with similar experience and idea to solve the problem?
Hardware:
Self assembled PC, Sempron 2600+ processor, 1GB RAM, on board nVidia 6100 graphics, 9GB HDD solely for Opensuse (all other hard disks unplugged). The hardware has run PCLinuxOS 2007, Fedora COre 9, Ubuntu and it’s variants)
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
Best Regards
