openSUSE11.2 and kde4.3

This just in from the factory mailing list

Hi,

gcc44 hit the factory repo yesterday afternoon. zypper dup didn’t show any
errors, which is good. I didn’t yet have the chance to see if the system also
works flawless, I hope someone else might have news. Otherwise I let you know
later today.

Unfortunately the NET isos do not work as they are not yet adapted to the new
libraries and it will take a while to fix this as currently factory is
rebuilding from scratch ;(

KDE 4.3b1 is waiting to be taking into O:F, so it should be in Milestone2.
I tried the unstable live cds and the desktop doesn’t show any obvious
problems.

Greetings, Stephan

Well, i’m running 11.2 and kde 4.3 right now and have no issues at all. Using the unstable repo for kde 4.3 it seems i still have older packages than the factory kde for 11.1.

One example, i don’t have the globe plugin.

Other than that it works flawlessly (not counting one BUG  )

I have kde 4.3 on my 11.1 and switch back and forth with kde 4.2 and kde 4.3 on my 11.2 factory just for a look see but seeing as how Im testing for openSuse 11.2 I don’t keep kde4.3
there. Hopefully by the 28th openSuse 11.2 milestone 2 will be out with kde4.3 beta

I tried that globe on 11.1 and wound up with a blank screen like black and unable to restart plasma-desktop been with 11.2 since. maybe I’ll reboot into 11.1 and see if a restart reset my desktop

Well, in 11.2 and KDE 4.3 Beta 1 i don’t have globe option.

And plasma is called plasma-desktop in kDE 4.3

Also, do you have Ctrl+Alt+F1-7 working??

Also Ctrl + Alt + Backspace doesn’t restart x anymore :expressionless:

P.S. The AIR theme for plasma rocks!!!

No problems with ctrl+alt+f1-7 or backspace
Do you have ctrl +alt +F10?

There must have been something with the settings because on a clean install of the latest Factory CD everything worked straight out of the box.

I’m pretty satisfied running this full time. Booting is really fast, everything is discovered and additionally KDE 4.3 Beta 1 ROCKS!!

I was using a long time Gnome but since KDE 4.2 i’m falling in love with KDE (and they also have Amarok 2  )

Kde 4.3 is in the openSuse factory repo
I just did a update this morning and my sysinfo tells me that I a running it.
