openSUSE 13.2 x64, installed on 2 different computers. When booting there’s BIOS menu, grub menu, openSUSE splash screen and then EITHER booting log (plymouth started etc) and then—KDE splash screen appear OR there’s a black screen (NOT zero brightness) and that’s all. Only reboot (or few reboots) with hardware button helps (Ctrl Alt Del does nothing).

If you disable or remove plymouth you might see a message.

No, it is an option in the kernel command line. I don’t remember the
exact one.
