openSUSE promotion car bumper sticker

Hi there,

Couldn’t find my old post from the other Suse forum, so I’ll ask again. I’ve got a quote on car bumper sticker which I want to buy and attach to my car to promote openSUSE and Linux. I’m not an arts sort of person, so my imagination and graphics skills are very limited  So, the best I could come up with is the green openSUSE lizard logo and then this text on the right: “Linux - Power, Security, Privacy, Control, Choice, Freedom”.

BTW, how can I attach an image to the post?

Please give me any better suggestions about text (it has to be simple and not very long). Any graphics ideas are also very welcome (2 colors maximum, otherwise price tripples with more colors).

I want to order it by the end of the month. I’ll show my car’s picture with the sticker when it’s done.

Thanks.

It doesn’t seem to me as though attachments are permitted in these forums. I can double-check on that though.

Thanks.

i don’t know if you must…but, you might wanna ASK the legal-eagles at
Novell if you may use their logo in that way…

especially important if you intend to produce, market and SELL them…

this page might be the place to start looking for their ideas on who
can use their copyrighted art, and how: http://www.novell.com/company/logo/

KEWL!!

No, I don’t want to sell anything, I just want to have that sticker on my car to promote openSUSE and Linux. That lizard (the same as the one in the top left hand corner of this forum) is available here: Artwork:Brand - openSUSE. It’s not a Novell logo, it’s openSUSE. Looks like it’s free to use as long as you follow those few rules. But, again, I’m not going to profit, sell, market or anything like that. It’s my personal car. I’m gonna spend my own money to promote it.

Don’t let a good PC go to waste, use Linux <opensuse logo here>

seems you are good to go!!
press on smartly,

OK, didn’t get any help here, so I’ve designed my own car bumper sticker as best as I could: Artwork/Miscellaneous - openSUSE

It will be ready in about 1-2 weeks, then I’ll post a picture of my car with it.

what? you got some legal clarification on trademarks, and a heap of
ideas to look at…what did you expect, someone to design your bumper
sticker to fit your personality, personal preferences, favorite color,
and car’s size/color/etc?

don’t you recall that you provided the words you intended to use
(“Linux - Power, Security, Privacy, Control, Choice, Freedom”)…you
specified two colors (but gave no hints on what you might prefer) and
you seemed to only need an image–were those in the two sticker books
<http://www.openstickers.com/> totally unhelpful?

I’m not a f*ing graphics designer. Just wanted to make something to promote Suse with my own money, as if I was asking for a marketing advice or to make something I’d then sell for a $1,000,000.

“you got some legal clarification on trademarks” - yeah? like what? you mean this: “you might wanna ASK the legal-eagles at
Novell if you may use their logo in that way”? yes, crystal clear now, thank you, I’d never think of that myself. ever saw me mentioning using a Novell logo?

“a heap of ideas to look at”… ok, Openstickers was one. what else? can’t see any more ideas. one doesn’t make a heap, sorry, or it’s a freaking small one. And what was I suppose to do with the openstickers anyway? print them all out and stick on the car? oh, yeah, there was also this one: “press on smartly” - you bet

I asked for help, not for this bullsht. Don’t wanna help, fine, just don’t try to be a smart as.

Geez, there was no such crp in other forums. Look, I don’t need to listen to this bullsht. To hell with the f*ing stickers.

Are you from Microsoft?

There is no need to go after the OP the way you did. Please tone it down.

I know you are just responding to another post but please lets all bring
this down a notch.

What about an all-white window sticker, like the Apple logos you see around the place? If you really want the green then maybe have a hint of it but leave it primarily white for contrast.

The “openSUSE” title can either be there or not.

i’m AM sorry you felt like you got no help…but it irritated me what
you did get you didn’t recognize as an ATTEMPT to be helpful, and say
thank you for that, instead you disrespected those that gave you what
they could give by saying “didn’t get any help here”…

i was just trying to point out that whether or not you liked what you
got you did receive something…and was ungrateful for it…did you
think the forum was full of graphic artist, who just refused to help
you, or what?

> Are you from Microsoft?

no, not hardly…i don’t even have any of their software other than what
i had when i stopped using Windows™ 3.11 in 1995 and i switched to
IBM’s OS/2 Warp…and jumped from there to Linux over a long and bumpy
transition which began about 1999…with RedHat 7.1…
