openSUSE partition question on Acer aspire

Hi,
I have Windows 7 and openSuse on my Acer Aspira 5532. I find that after using it, I’d rather get rid of Windows 7 all together. However, I want to be careful not to remove the partition that has the Windows 7 Reinstallation boot disk just incase in the future I wish to go back to Windows.

Is there a way I can make my entire computer Linux (no dual boot) but also not deleting the Windows 7 reinstallation partition?

Further, can someone example why, on Boot, I have like 5 options to choose from? Like two openSUSE versions, failsafe, Windows 1, and Windows 2…?

To be honest, when I installed openSUSE, I just did the recommended partition job that it suggested. I don’t know much about partitions.

Thanks in advance,
Robert

I’m not sure I would advise what you desire. It could easily end in tears. For anyone that doesn’t have a proper install disk for windows you should make a set of recovery disks or get yourself a full windows dvd. I just deleted everything.

The boot options you have are normal when you have more than one windows partition. Hence windows 1 and windows 2

Hi
Isn’t there a tool in Windows to create a backup DVD? My Toshiba came
with tools, the ASUS netbook came with a backup DVD…

@malcolmlewis I’m sure you can create recovery disks. I did it with a vista install a couple of years ago.

Hi
For sure  dd onto external storage or change drives if push comes to
shove

Install openSUSE without delete the recovery partition, delete
everything else and make the swap, /, and /home partition, the installer
will detect the windows 7 recovery and add it to grub, then you can
comment the config line on grub, but DO NOT DELETE IT, so you’ll have a
single boot and if you want Win7 back you have to uncoment the lines and
boot it
