OpenSuse on a Dell 13-5368 13.3 Screen?

tip for future: to get online without wifi or lan you can simply usb tether your phone

Hi
So was it the firmware missing, or something else? If it was the missing firmware, you should look at raising a bug so it can be included in the kernel-firmware package, so at least you and others won’t have to jump through hoops…

iwlwifi firmware is part of kernel-firmware package.

Hi
Not the iwlwifi-7265-14 and iwlwifi-7265D-14 ucode files, everything but…

The exact firmware version required depends on kernel driver. It will accept some range, starting from the highest supported. Tumbleweed kernel very unlikely needs (or even requests) -14 version. With kernel 4.8:

13.654733] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-7265D-24.ucode failed with error -2
13.654844] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-7265D-23.ucode failed with error -2
   14.102218] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: loaded firmware version 22.361476.0 op_mode iwlmvm

4.10 requires version -17 at least.

Hi
So OP is on Leap 42.2 which is 4.4 kernel, but if you follow the link to the Intel page, to me whilst it contains the 14 files, page was updated just 10 days ago… 2017/02/28?

I see here Merge tag 'iwlwifi-fw-2017-02-03' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/iwlwifi/linux-firmware - kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git - Repository of firmware blobs for use with the Linux kernel it was only just merged… <shrug> I have no idea, at least the OP is happy if that was the fix…
