opensuse not recognizing wi-fi adapter

Hi to all,
My server is running opensuse 12.2, I have wireless adapter TP-LINK TL-WN722N and I want to connect it to my server. When I connect it he is not working ( even not turning on - not blinking ). How can I make it work? Which drivers to install, or etc…

Thanks

Until you tell us what wireless chip is in your device, we cannot tell you. Many
manufacturers change the chip without changing the model number, thus we cannot
reliably google for TL-WN722N. If it is a USB device, provide the output of
‘lsusb’. If it is PCI, then ‘/sbin/lspci -nn’. When you reply, also tell us what
desktop you are using and if your system is 32 or 64 bit.

You might also check the output of dmesg to see if you are missing firmware - a
likely case.

TP-LINK TL-WN722N

Interface: USB

ID: 0cf3:9271

FCC ID: TE7WN722N

Chipset: Atheros AR9002U

Chip 1: Atheros AR9271

My system is 64 bit

I have installed compat-wireless, now when I insert wi-fi device to USB it’s blinking 3sec and then turning off

Please, if output is requested, copy and paste it from a terminal window, and post the output between CODE tags. That way it’s more readable, and we will know it’s exactly that what your system returns.

On this matter: AFAIK the Atheros chips are supported by the kernel.

I am not sure what code 12 means in denial of association means. Does that AP
have MAC filtering enabled?

no, MAC filtering is disabled. With this wireless adapter I can connect from others PC to internet, but on opensuse I can’t :frowning:

Ah, you’re using ifup. Go Yast - Networkdevices - Networksettings, and configure the device (it needs to be plugged in). Then reboot with the USB device inserted, and report what happens.

I suggest that you refile this report on the mailing list at
linux-wireless@vger.kernel.org. That way the Atheros developers will see it.

Is this on the same server PC that you mention in another thread? Where an upgrade went wrong? Or is this on a clean install?

yes, it is

Which does not exactly answer my question :D. So this is on a clean install?

no, not on clean. I was using this server about 6 months

back me again
I have installed fresh install of opensuse 12.2
Then I installed
software.opensuse.org:
compat-wireless home:Lord_LT:drivers 20120703

but no luck. System didn’t recognizing wireless adapter even I don’t see it and can’t configure in Yast -> network settings

Any suggestions?

Post output of

lsusb

and

su -c lspci

and

ip addr

I have managed to make it work , now another problem.
I see that adapter has connected -> router has assigned ip and everything seems to be good ( i have connected to router, and I see that everything is fine ).
But problem is that - No internet, can’t access any page, but can ping router. I disabled firewall but no luck

p.s if I connect pc with router with cable, internet is working

i have managed to do it, it was problem with route
tnx to all
