OpenSuse MTAs

Looks like the default MTA for OpenSuse 11 is postfix…right?

I’m used to sendmail…is postfix every bit as good? Or better? Or can I install sendmail as an option?

Postfix is actually better, more secure and definitely easier to configure.

You should not use Sendmail at all anymore.

Is DKIM available for Postfix? Or alternative?

Hi
Adding this as a repository will give you the dkim-milter rpm addon for
postfix.

I beg to differ. (But I’m old.)

It’s generally easier and more secure to use something you know well,
than something new that’s hyped as “more secure” and “easier to configure”.

YMMV

Thanks…I added it and installed the milter.

Is there any documentation, FAQs, etc specific to openSUSE 11, postfix and DKIM?

Or should I just use generically Googled postfix information?

Even thought sendmail was running the market for the longest time Postfix is the better choice now. Alot easier to config and wayyyy more stable. I recommend using dovecot as a backend also for smtp and such.

Ok, I found the documentation/manuals.

They are in

/usr/share/doc/packages/dkim-milter

I’m viewing the README.suse_postfix file for dkim-milter.

After installing you can use YAST to set your options for DKIM_* vars.

yast2 -> system -> /etc/sysconfig editor -> network -> mail -> dkim-milter

I do not see this option in OS11 (opensuse) yast2.

Ok, now I see it.

In order to expand the tree under Configuration Options, you have to enter a “+” sign.
