I submitted a request to become an openSUSE member several months ago: before Christmas, if I’m not mistaken; however I still haven’t heard anything about it and I still have:
Current status: Your request is being worked on. Please stay tuned.
The request is under review by the board.

Are new members being considered at the moment?
When can I expect to receive a decision about this?

imo the best way to be ‘accepted’ by those who hold the power is to
interact with them…
and, in the largest majority of cases they are NOT here, ever…
we here are way way down at the level of simple users…
if you wanna rub elbows with the openSUSE powerful you have to join
and smooze their mail lists and and irc channels…they don’t do html
fora…too busy planning, developing, etc…
if a dev is offended by what i say: good! come join us and learn about
users frustrations, problems, needs and wants…
when devs have a better understand of their impact on today’s new
users, then maybe we will see less of the kind of discussion and
blocking actions i see here: https://features.opensuse.org/308936

@Barry_Nichols
Certainly we consider new member applications. Actually, we’re working on the establishment of a dedicated Membership Committee atm and thus we currently have some delays with the process. That said, I’m sorry for the interims inconvenience.

@palladium
Sorry, but I strongly disagree here. I myself read the forums on a daily basis and I was involved with them right from the beginning … Please have a look at my userpage [1]. That said, the Board certainly values the forums as a very important part of the openSUSE community, no doubt.
very happy to see you here again…would really like to see more
“cross-pollination” (outside of FATE and Bugzilla)…like, every
kernel cracker should be ‘required’ to come here and help folks
recover from the problems caused every time a new kernel drops…
No. The best way to have his membership application accepted is to give a “continued and substantial contribution to the openSUSE project” and to be able to prove it (ie, report bugs on Bugzilla, translate wiki or distribution or infrastructure, help on forums, etc. are recorded anyway).

i do not disagree…not at all…i’ve probably directed more folks to
fate, etc as anyone here…even joined two (3?) mail lists for a
while and IRC…
but, stick around here and note the level of a LOT of the
questions…most of those folks would get gobbled up in no time on
the ML…so, i hesitate to send’em…but, every new kernel released
i’m tempted to send every one of them direct to the devs…
