openSUSE livecd, no initrd?

Hello All,

I observed in the latest Leap 15.6 live cd, there is no initrd file in /boot/ folder. There is a link for initrd, but no target file.

In my installations, in the same location (/boot/), there is an initrd link and a file as it’s target.

The size of kernel in livecd is about the same size as in hd installation. So, I cannot think initrd is built in. And a livecd has to work under broader conditions than a hd installation. So, I guess in a livecd situation, kernel needs to carry more drivers. So, I was surprised there is no initrd in a livecd.

I have no issue to report. Leap 15.6 is working nicely here. I only want to know.

Thanks in advance.

Live image does not use kernel/initrd in /boot, so it is irrelevant. It is simply an artefact of build procedure.
