openSUSE Linux 12.1/LXDE: Create files with the right click mouse on my desktop programs installed on your system.

Note LXDE on openSUSE is a desktop packaged/supported mostly by one person only in the openSUSE community. Hence if you want this feature, they are the best person to liaise with. I find the best way to contact them is on the IRC chat channel freenode #opensuse-lxde

Having typed that, if there is any chance this this feature might slow down the LXDE desktop even in the slightest, I am against it. I voted accordingly.

I tend to think that genixinfo is asking for features that are already done in the project, for instance KDE4 features like :

o closer integration
o right click creates files in Desktop Folder
o more applications, read about community repos like Packman & contrib

May be using fullly featured Fat desktop like GNOME or KDE4 would make more sense, than trying to impose general requirements.without consideration of resources to implement them.
I’ve voted to

i need to have an lxde installation to make some tests, but i remember you can create folders and empty files right clicking on the desktop…

I’ve just tried it with LXDE in 11.3 (fairly light install) and I have option to create a folder or a blank file. It’s not really what’s wanted which is to start an applcation to create a new file.

i have to give a look to the code… any help is welcome, +1 for me

The fate entry contains exactly the same text as your text above. Please make useful requests. We have an upstream policy, so features need to be added in general to LXDE first - and then with the next version upgrade, we’ll get them.

My suggestion is that the robopensuse said:
