What’s this “Legacy” label in oS 13.2 i586? Is support for 32-bit computers being phased out?
Hi
One could only wish
AFAIK, it’s all to do with SSE support, compile time switches and optimizations, some cpu types not supported anymore (I think my VIA-C7 cpu falls into this category), it will happen at some point, maybe in a few releases, who knows…
Then get down to folks like me who at this point am only packaging for 64bit since that’s the only hardware I run and can test on (I prefer real hardware not VM’s).
32 bit libs are still built, so things should still run fine…
I still have a 32-bit tower that does very well as a file server. It’s been running for over a decade, and still going strong. I’d hate to lose openSUSE support, but I’m sure there will be Linux support somewhere for years to come.
Hi
Yup, for sure, well if 13.1 goes evergreen, then you will get some extra time with that before worrying about other options…
I have both 64 bit and 32 bit machines with 13.2 installed. So far not come across any program that I use which is not available for both.
