I have tried kde neon, zorin, linux mint, endeavouros, manjaro, debian, mx linux and they all run really fast. I really like OpenSUSE’s Yast, OBS, and release cycle, however when I boot into it, it is really laggy and slow. Only 900MB of 8GB is used and only around 15% CPU is being used. Does anyone know the problem? Is it the BTRFS file system?
Welcome to the forum!
Been using TW for years and find it to be the opposite … we have TW running on two desktops and two laptops , and experience them to be very responsive (of course, not running a Live version).
(I’ve always preferred to test a distro /OS using a virtual machine - provides a more fair comparison).
Are you actually running a Live “CD”?
Or are you running on a Live Flash drive?
Also, are you running the same user interface?
Which UI?
What are the top three things that are “laggy”?
IDK if Geckolinux counts as OpenSUSE, but I figured that they are both pretty much identical. I am using their KDE Plasma rolling version (which uses tumbleweed). I am using a flash drive. The top 3 things that are “laggy” are opening of apps, clicking in apps, and Yast
When were your CPU and GPU new? What are they? Did you put your Gecko on a USB2 stick?
Okay … using KDE Plasma
Just to be sure … do you use KDE Plasma on those other Live distros?
I ask because comparing a distro responsiveness using KDE Plasma, to a distro running XFCE or MATE , will be much different.
Yes, I tried Manjaro KDE, KDE neon, and MX Linux KDE
How about this, I try out opensuse tumbleweed kde live and see how it goes.
