Opensuse Forum - Cant Change Email Address - Opensuse Forum Server Error - THREAD COMPLAINT I CREATED:

  • (was 1 character short of maximum number of characters for title)

CONTENT:

Procedure to show this:

  1. I log into my opensuse forum account

ATTEMPT TO CHANGE MY EMAIL ADDRESS:

https://forums.opensuse.org/private.php

Under ‘My Settings’ under sub-category ‘My Account’ I click on ‘Edit Email & Password’

I end up on URL: https://forums.opensuse.org/profile.php?do=editpassword

WHAT I SEE ON SITE:

Edit Email & Password
Enter your present password to continue:

You must enter your current password if you wish to change your password or email address.

Edit Password (Optional)

New Password:
Confirm New Password:

Enter a new password for your user account. Note that passwords are case-sensitive.

Edit Email Address (Optional)

New Email Address: [email]Enlightenment1@****.li[/email]
Confirm New Email Address: [email]Enlightenment1@****.li[/email]

Enter your new email address here. You must be able to receive email sent to this address.

I then decide to delete the email address Enlightenment1@****.li and replace it with email address
GlobalUnity@disroot.org in both the fields on the web site by manually typing the email address
into both fields all in lower case

I first enter my current password into the field immediately after the ‘Enter your present password to continue:’ text

I then process to click on the ‘Save Changes’ button

RESULT:

I get the following message:

I attempted to do this whole procedure again and got the same error message as above

SeaMonkeys status notification at the bottom sais ‘Waiting for beans.opensuse.org…’ forever

When i decided to logout of my opensuse forum account, i then got a serious error message by SeaMonkey Browser:

Logging back into my opensuse forum account show that my email address was not changed

Can you please fix this error ?
Otherwise i will have to delete my current opensuse forum account and create a new one with the new email address

You do not explain what you did to try to change your e-mail address.

At the top right of our main page there is

Need to change your password or email address? Instructions are in our FAQ

In short it comes down to use the “Contact us” at the bottom of the main page (and almost every other page, even this one).

Better try that.

The “Corrupted Content” error usually indicates that your login has expired, and you need to go to the forum main page and login there again.

Dont know what your talking about - I have clearly stated literally everything i did to change my email address in my post

How is that not clear as to what i did to try and change my email address ???

I will use the ‘Contact Us’ option now

The FAQ (Forum front page top right) tells you the issue, what you are trying to do is incorrect… Likewise have you changed the email address in the self help portal (on the login page)? That must be done as well before any other change, which is required by the Forums admin, so send your email, but please confirm you have changed in the portal.
