[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed open for suggestions

thats ok. thanks for the reply.

I would love to have lyx updated in Tumbleweed (12.1 is version 2.0.1, factory has 2.0.3).

BTW. is there a guide for how to access the mailing lists somewhere (is there an archive somewhere if I just want to read what’s going on)? The OP says to send requests there but I can’t find any instructions on how to do that (I grew up after the invention of forums :P)

It should now be there, if you have problems with it, please let me know.

Hi Swerdna !

I would love to see X.org and Mesa Packages upgraded in Tumleweed!
As a FOOS enthusiast ist prefer the xorg-radeon driver over fglrx and want all the new goodies as soon as possible…

Great idea to ask your users about this! Thank you…

Could I suggest akonadi-google as a replacement for akonadi-googledata.

The benefits are:

  1. I believe that akonadi-google uses OAuth instead of account and password for authentication
  2. The Google Calendars and Tasks resource actually works. I can see my events in KOrganizer with it

akonadi-google is in Factory but is not present in 12.1.

Neil Darlow

Could we please have an update for Scribus? Version 1.4.1 is in factory.

Thank you for all your hard work!

So just adding this package to Tumbleweed would be sufficient?

thanks,

For the impatient: +1 for Mesa 8.03, it is in factory. Tumbleweed is great!

For those with a bit more patience:
Ok, it seems I am joining the party a bit late, but maybe this is supposed to be an ongoing thread. Since I bought a new computer with the Intel(R) Core™ i7-3770 (Intel HD4000 graphics on board) my experience with OpenSuse 12.1 was rather frustrating on this hardware and so I upgraded to Tumbleweed. The new kernel plays nicely with the hardware and I have almost no problems with it (the only problem I do have relates to it being unable to shutdown properly (it always does a restart), but I guess I will have to start a new thread about that), my encrypted LVM setup was left intact and I am highly happy with the setup. I do recommend the switch to anyone with a very recent intel onboard graphic chip.
However, as I read that Ivy-bridge 3D support is so much greater with mesa 8.03, I am really looking forward to this.

Upgrading just one part of the xorg stack in Tumbleweed is a bit
“difficult” to say the least.

I’m looking at doing this soon, given the slip of 12.2, but it’s going to
take a lot of testing and I can’t guarantee anything anytime soon.
