I added an entry to the Most Annoying Bugs page
(http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Most_annoying_bugs_12.2_dev#openSUSE_12.2_Beta_1).

Is that an accurate description? Has anyone files a Bub yet?

Yep, you did back in March! At least it’s the one I’ve used -

They are likely not the same bug.

What happens when the “install from images” is unchecked? Does that force the
installation process to get the packages from the network?

When I disabled using the images, the installation used the rpms from the DVD including Grub2. The NON-OSS was downloaded from the Internet.

with install from images enabled
after the emages are deplyed they get deleted

This looks like the bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=765164
any way I added my comments and my yast log there

installing with install from images enabled grub2 is not installed so on a vt (alt ctrl f2)

chroot /mnt
zypper in grub2

go back to alt f7 and retry the boot loader
To get to a gui

zypper in xorg-x11-driver-video
init 3
init 5

Here’s another suggested entry:

Here’s another suggested entry:

If using luks encryption that requires a key during early stages of boot, then booting will fail,
because the plymouth splash screen blocks the encryption key query…
Solution: Boot to the failsafe option. That will complete the install for the initial boot. Then
use ALT-F1 to get a login prompt, login as root, and edit the grub configuration to
change “splash=silent” to “splash=verbose”. Then reboot. The grub configuration
file is either “/boot/grub/menu.lst” or “/boot/grub2/grub.cfg” depending on which grub version.

That still did not work for me. The “kdm” login screen showed fine, but when I logged in, the session immediately crashed. Evidently there was still something missing. Install from the live KDE worked.

Put it in there yourself. Once you log in using the same user name and password
as the Forum, you will be able to add a new entry.
