OpenSuse does not start

Hi,

today after one restart I’m unable to start my opensuse 12.1. Grub boots normally and it looks like the system is starting. First when I looked in the terminal the starting stopped with line: unable to enumerate USB device on port 5. Then I found this article: [Solved] Unable to enumerate USB device (Disabling ehci_hcd) | GeekDevs](http://www.geekdevs.com/2010/04/solved-unable-to-enumerate-usb-device-disabling-ehci_hcd/), booted from a Live USB and did what was written there.

And now the start up stoppes with line [nm-device-ethernet.c:752] real_update_permanent_hw_address(): (usb0): unable to read permanent MAC addres (error 0)

I have no idea what went wrong there, everything worked fine this morning.

I would appreciate any help.
Thx.

That looks like a Ubuntu fix. Have no Idea if it works for OpenSUSE.

What USB devices are plugged?

Well I have no devices plugged in right now, that’s the weirdest thing. I just found out that I’m able to start Suse normally if I choose Init Program: “System V” when booting. Is it possible that it is a hardware problem? I have a dell nb, and I did run some built in hardware check and nothing showed up. The computer seems to work normally. I’ve had a mouse and my mobile phone plugged in before the last restart.

What do you mean by Ubuntu fix?

Then report in bugzilla.

This; *[nm-device-ethernet.c:752] real_update_permanent_hw_address(): (usb0): unable to read permanent MAC addres (error 0) is referring to network manager, in which you seem to be using USB for your connection. You might try poking around /sys/bus/pci/drivers some more and see if you can find the problem. *
