If anyone new to OpenSUSE wants to add the OpenSUSE Build Service games repo for a bunch of free games (Battle of Wesnoth, Open Arena, OpenTTD etc…), I thought I’d let you know about a resource that’s available. I took the liberty of updating the Games documentation page for Tumbleweed and Leap this morning, as I noticed it was a bit out of date.
The Games documentation page is here: Games
Note: The Games repo wouldn’t actually populate into the list if you follow the instructions for adding it via YaST (at least on Leap, for me), but you can easily add the repo with the instructions for zypper.
Personally, I find it a lot easier to browse what’s available using YaST’s software manager, than browsing the repo via some HTML interface. Sometimes it’s fun to just see what’s available. If you’d rather browse via HTML and not needlessly add a repository that you might not even use (but you were going to use it anyway, right?! ), you can look through what’s available here. You can always also just search for a specific game on https://software.opensuse.org if you know what you are looking for.
Happy Gaming!
