opensuse box as mailserver

Hi,

I’ve an existing server with valid external signed certificates which is acting as my mail gateway (also my open ldap master).

Just installed open suse to run as the actual mail server the users access for email/sent out through.

LDAP on the suse box is currently a client config talking to the main server, and I can browse fine.

Going to install the Mail MTA on the suse box and it gave me an error about missing extensions in ldap (sorry missed the error the first time - and not seen it since), then it prompts me for the LDAP server password, after entering this, I get the following popup errors:-

Error Cannot read mail server transports
Error Cannot read mail server preventions
Error Cannot read the mail server relay settings
Warning Cannot read the mail server local delivery settings
Warning There is no main mail domain defined. Please fix it!
Warning Cannot read the mail server fetching jobs.
Warning Cannot read the mail server domains

Then I get the Mail Server Global settings screen…

I’m guessing here that I really need to configure LDAP server on the suse box and replicate the LDAP with the main server, then add the required extensions.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for doing this please, as looked on the openldap.org sites man pages and did a search for ‘replica’ and go no results!

Don’t slap me for asking the obvious, but have you checked the firewall on the Opensuse machine? By default, all ports are closed.

Actually because it’s an internal box, and going to be routing all email thru the existing server, the firewall is disabled until I get it working.

That said, since you asked I just checked It’s set up as an internal zone, unprotected. All ports open…
