This is about the power of openSUSE/linux. Early this morning my new laptop arrived (my son gets the old one). Hardware is quite different, videocard is NVIDIA like my old laptop.
Right after it came in, I took out the HDD, and replaced it with my old laptop’s SSD. And here’s the successtory: I configured the newly found network-devices, ran ‘sax2 -r -m0=nvidia’ to set the resolution (1440x900 -> 1600x900), this all took less than 10 minutes, DONE.
Now, let’s see if Vista will install on the old one, instead of the new one.

I like stories like that Excellence, convenience, and efficiency, rolled into one OS (not to forget a bit of education on your part).
There’s more, though not a success story: Vista refuses to install on the old laptop (says it’s hardware has changed from original configuration !! The only thing changed is the HDD !!!
Showed my kids, full of stories about the impossibility of uninstalling the V-thing, it takes no more than a couple of seconds to completely remove this non-product. A full Win7 will follow as soon as it’s available, but I guess that’s not going to make it either. The kids all prefer openSUSE to Win7; they consider Windows as a gaming platform, both changed the GRUB entry for Windows, to ‘GameLab’ and ‘M$, the Game’.

Well, actually the OS comes from the new disk. So ti it, everything BUT the
HDD has changed.
