openSUSE: a good option?

Hello everyone,

Basically, I’m thinking about giving openSUSE a try. I’ve been using Ubuntu for a while, and there are some little things about it that I hate. I was wondering if openSUSE is a good distro for a Linux newbie, who will be using it for some high-school level essays etc, and maybe playing some RuneScape. Virtualbox is not an option to try it :frowning:

  1. You are posting this in the subforum where people need technical help with there Install/Boot/Login problems. There is a complete list of subforums in the category “Other Forums” (which is the other main category beside “Get Technical Help Here”). Why did you not start there? I do not ask you specificaly to make you unhappy, but as we like to help people on these forums as good as possible, a tree of (sub)forums is presented. When people then end up in the wrong place, we may be could have done better. Please explain so we may improve the Forums presentation on this point.

  2. You will find more of the kind of questions you ask (and a lot of answers to them) in the General Chitchat forum. But basicaly, you are asking openSUSE users if they think using openSUSE is a good idea. Which is the same as asking a Ford dealer if Ford is a good car. So expect some discussion on this thread, but keep in mind most of us are biased (and may even never have used another distro).
