OpenSUSE 15.1 Logging Facility

Hello guys,

I am new to this forum. I am installing OpenSUSE 15.1 and find out that "syslog" service is installed default in this suse version. As far as I know, we used systemd-logger for system-wide logging. There 's no syslog default in before 15.0. Why syslog is installed again in 15.1?

What is the main default logging facility in 15.1 , system logger or syslog?

Thank you.

I think it is using “rsyslog”.

You can probably uninstall it, and allow systemd logging to take over. But I have not attempted that.

Disable and stop the service if not required…

sudo systemctl stop rsyslog
sudo systemctl disable rsyslog

and leave the logging to systemd-journald.
