Hi,
Today I tried 32-bit KDE Live CD which boots fine using “nomodeset” boot option. However,
I had to abort installation because the installer only shows BOOT partition among others, but no root partition. I had intended to install MS0 (and GRUB2 loader) in the root partition of a specific partition because I am multibooting. It seems both BTRFS and EXT4 file systems have this limitation.
Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
Is this with the partitioning proposal?
Yes. When I chose custom partitioning, I don’t see any option for installing 13.1 in the root partition.
I’m sorry, I do not understand this sentence at all. Please show screenshot and explain what do you think is wrong on this screenshot.
My suggestion is to install with the DVD image, not with the live image.
I installed with KDE live, and it did not go well. Install from the DVD image was a lot better.
I agree with the others – your problem is unclear. Is there no root file system (seems unlikely), or is there merely no option to install grub2 into the root partition?
If the latter, you might try changing the root file system to use ext4 in place of btrfs, and see whether that helps.

It’s the latter. Normally when I choose custom partitioning then select a specific partition, there are options like boot, root, home, var, etc. to install openSUSE. This time I don’t see “root” or “/”. I only see “boot”. Still seeing the same after I switch to ext4 file system.

I meant “the root of a partition”, NOT “the root partition”. Sorry for the confusion, as English is not my first language.

If you mean - mount point selection when creating partition - I cannot reproduce it. I see normal list of standard mount point, including “/”. Tested with Net ISO Build 0133.

I got the live KDE CD and run install,
the only obvious difference from 13.1 I can see is that file system options are not there front and center as it was with 13.1 installer where you had the options to select BTRFS as default and propose separate /home partition option.
now you have only 4 button that you can click for more options.
and also by default the proposed layout is BTRFS for “/” and XFS for “/home” if you select separate home partition option. kind of nice clean setup.
even though I prefer BTRFS for all of mine partitions.
