OpenSuse 13.2 LXDE does not log out

Hi,

I just installed Opensuse 13.2 with LXDE. I am not a big fan of Gnome but this might change after having some troubles with LXDE. My first trouble is that the log out does not work. Has anybody had the same experience? I can switch off and reboot but not log out.
Another interesting experience was a new user creation. When you go to Yast and create a user then it does not creat automatically the home/user folder with the right permission. I had to creat it via terminal and then manually change the group and owner. Does anybody know how to create a new user with working home folder?

Thanks,
Zolobolo

Sounds like both should be reported on bugzilla

Yes I am going to report it but only the logout issue. I also tried Xfce and in that case it is even worse since it hangs on logout. The user add is ok if one does it only (and exclusivlly only) through yast. I did a useradd on the commandline and that meesed up everything.

Interesting.
Personally, I never “logout” – So never noticed…
And can verify that LXDE/openSUSE 13.2 will not “Logout > Logout” from the App Launcher button.

But, I have found that the Screensaver will kind of “logout” – It’s probably different but will lock the screen after a set amount of time and a password can be set to log back in.

Hi,

I have tried the locck screen option but that does not do anything. it reacts the same way as logout. Although I must confirm that when left for certain amount of preset time in Yast the screen will lock. I have not tried to switch user there yet. Can you switch user from “lock screen” logout?

Looks like…

  • The lock screen will lock you out quickly. You just need to adjust your other screensaver settings to be less than or equal to the “lock screen” value. If you leave the screensaver at the default 10min, your screensaver and lockout won’t happen for 10 min even if “lock screen” is set to… for example 1min.

  • It looks like although the lockout re-login screen has a “New Login” button, it might only support the existing User. You can’t enter a different Username. I suspect this is probably a bug… I seem to remember long ago I could change to a different Username.
