I have installed opensuse 13.2 in my desktop: two SSD in RAID 0 (with Windows 8) and a third empty hard drive. I have installed it in the normal hard drive (not RAID 0) using this partitioning system:
I don’t have any problem during the installation process. Before installing, I click the option: Boot from the boot partition. The option ‘modify MBR partition’ is disabled. Whe I reboot the system, Windows 8 starts automatically, namely, I don’t have any boot menu (GRUB2 has not installed properly). I have been playing with different options without results. I don’t have this problem with UBUNTU. Any idea?
I do not remember such option. Could you show screenshot?
Any idea?
You need to a) set BIOS to boot from your Linux drive and b) install some code in MBR of this drive that will look for active partition (boot partition where you actually installed bootloader). Usually “Install generic code in MBR” does b).
… and you have to set the boot flag active where the bootloader is installed, if it is not installed in the MBR. A common problem, as already mentioned, is that the flag is not set to the correct place.
