I’m a newbie and I want to learn how to use openSUSE.
After reading the announce on openSUSE homepage I knew openSUSE 13.1 will be the next EverGreen. So that I decide to install this version. How I can’t wait until the GA release since from 19th to 28th this month I have final test of some subject in my school.
Can I upgrade directly from GM (will be released tomorrow) without using zypper dup command? I’ve read somewhere that RC1 and RC2 have to use this command to upgrade to final release.
Please give me some advice.
Thanks all.
Basically Yes
Though typically I always do a clean install of GM
GM already is the final version. There is no need to upgrade to GA, because there’s no difference.
After GM there only will be standard updates via the update repo which you can install with the update applet, YaST->Online Update, or “zypper patch”/“zypper up” (or even “pkcon update” ).
If you do a network install, after the GM has been released, I think you get the final 13.1 version installed. You might not be using the final version of the installer, but what is installed should be the final version.
Thank all for your help.
Mod please close this topic. Thanks.
