Hello,
Just installed openSUSE12.3 on an ASUS R550CM laptop and have a few issues:
- Wireless Radio key (Fn+F2) doesn’t work
- Neither screen brightness keys nor screen brightness adjustment in Configure Desktop work, the screen brightness is always at its maximum
- Default Nouveau driver works fine, but as soon as I install the nVidia driver, the computer locks up and only complete reinstall helps (the video card is nVidia GT635M)
Will greatly appreciate your help. Thank you.
Just installed the nvidia driver again, added the user to a video group, restarted the laptop, opened the nvidia utility and it said that the nvidia driver is not used I needed to run the nvidia-xconfig as root, so I did, rebooted and it’s hung again on Reached Graphical Interface. Tried init 3/init 5 - still hangs. Can I fix this in any way without a reinstall?
Try booting into failsafe mode, click on Avanced … in the Grub boot screen, scroll down to the second line in next screen and boot. Don’t bother if you’re just taken to a command prompt, log in and give following command:
/sbin/lspci | grep VGA
Do you get two lines in the output? Intel on the first line and NVIDIA on the second?
Yes, I can see the 2 lines with Intel and nVidia
Too bad, it’s an Optimus hybrid system. Can you check in the BIOS setup if it’s possible to turn Optimus off.
