Opensuse 12.3: Libreoffice segfaults when opening document

Today Libreoffice in OpenSuse 12.3 started crashing when opening an existing doc. Tried both calc and writer. Using KDE but also tried plain VM (can’t remember name). Tried as root under KDE. Same result.

openSUSE 12.3 is basically out of support since a few weeks.

Apparently the crash is related to qtcurve-gtk2.
Try to set a different Gtk2 theme (KDE’s Systemsettings/“Configure Desktop”->Application Appearance->GTK) or use LibreOffice’s KDE integration (installing the package libreoffice-kde4 should be enough). Does it work then?

Ok, but this doesn’t change the fact that the crash seems to be related to qtcurve-gtk2, and the same possible workarounds should apply…

One question though: are you using the GNOME integration on purpose?
If not, in 13.2 it is forced by ibus if you have libreoffice-gnome and ibus installed. To use the KDE integration (and KDE style), you’d have to uninstall one of them, or try to run LO like this:

Could be a bug in qtcurve-gtk2 or libqtcurve-cairo0 (that’s where the crash actually happens), or incompatible packages installed.
Are you using the versions shipped with openSUSE 13.2, or does it come from some additional repo?

rpm -qi qtcurve-gtk2 libqtcurve-cairo0

I just tried, and LibreOffice doesn’t seem to crash here though (with qtcurve-gtk2 and libqtcurve-cairo0 as shipped in 13.2).

If you still want to use the qtcurve-gtk2 style for other Gtk2 applications (no idea if they would crash too), you could make sure you use LO’s KDE integration as mentioned.

AFAIK the flash update was not intended to be released for 12.3 any more, but apparently an exception has been made.
At least M.M. wrote on the opensuse-de mailinglist on Jan. the 8th(!) that 12.3 will not get any updates any more.

I wondered about that one, yes, if they were going to make it or not.
Then it is not that the “end of support” announcement was forgotten, but
postponed.
