Opensuse 12.3 - Fn key to reduce brightness on netbook asus 1025c not functioning any alternative?

Hi,

this netbook (1gb ram) run on opensuse 12.3 - 32 bit XFCE

however the brightness is at maximum,tried using the software setting to lower the brightness and the Fn + F5 key fail.

it can be done with the latest Xubuntu (13.10) but I try not to switch and stick with the geeko.

please help

Xubuntu (13.10) uses Linux kernel version 3.11 while openSUSE 12.3 uses kernel 3.7 which has older drivers. You can upgrade the Linux kernel in openSUSE 12.3 per this blog post:

I have the same problem with a Toshiba Laptop Pro and have not yet tried to fix it.
