Opensuse 12.3 does not work wireless Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100

My Sony Vaio VGN-FW360AJ this without wireless

  1. It is preferred that you use
/COD... tags when posting output like you did.

3. You can use options with the lspci command to provide more useful info about your hardware. For example

/sbin/lspci -vv


Just post the output concerning your wifi network device. 

4. What does this command report?

/usr/sbin/iwconfig



5. Assuming the above check out okay, is your wireless device disabled perhaps? Check with the rfkill utility

/usr/sbin/rfkill list


If it is 'hard blocked' , there is probably a switch or key that can enable it. If 'soft blocked', then you can use rfkill to enable with

sudo /usr/sbin/rfkill unblock wifi

Networking in openSUSE-12.3 can be a bit tricky initially. Did you look at this thread/stickie specifically for openSUSE-12.3:

I note my laptop has a wireless Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5300 (which is almost identical to the 5100) and it works ok. Hence I suspect initially the above generic 12.3 problem.

This just means that you don’t have the ‘rfkill’ package installed. It can be installed with zypper from a root terminal

zypper in rfkill

The image you posted was too blurry to show me what the problem (if any) was with Network Manager and your wireless connectivity.

Lets have a look at the NM status

nmcli nm

Did you manage to successfully configure your wireless connection? Are you able to connect okay or not?

Run the installation command rfkill
And then ran the commands were given errors
