openSUSE 12.2 repo question

I have installed 12.2 with no major problems, changed to 12.2 repo’s first.
But I do not have a repo for packman 12.2. Does anyone have the url for 12.2
versions from packman or do I use the 12.1 verssions?

Thanks

Russ

Where you find 12.2? Not supposed to be released until March 8th.

openSUSE:Roadmap - openSUSE

So? :-?
It is available as beta, and this is the beta forum.

I don’t usually install the beta this early, but if I remember correctly
packman doesn’t start packaging at early stages. You may have to wait a bit.

As to use older versions, well… who knows. They may work, but you will
have dependency problems.

I’ll be alittle clearer next time on the release number.

Will repo Updates for openSUSE 12.2 12.2-1.5 get me to the next milestone? (Currently on milestone 1).
Also: are the factory repo’s the modus operondi of beta/milestone users?

I also have the same questions regarding repos. Since downloading and playing with milestone 2 I will try and look over the repos and mention it here later. BUT, I always do wonder what the difference is if any between milestone/beta repos and factory, and just when factory should and shouldn’t be used. I do realize using factory repos could be potentially disastrous though.

The milestones ie
download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.2/repo/oss is updated about every month or whenever a new milestone is published. This for testing the milestones. It will not change between milestones

Factory ie download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss. is updated freqently, almost daily and can become quite unstable. It is not for the casual tester.

If I were to copy the repos from a milestone live cd and replace the standard 12.1 repos could I then do a zypper dup and be running m2? If doing this would a downgrade be at all possible if something went wrong?

Don’t do that.

Milestones and factory can and do fail, sometimes trivially, sometimes
catastrophically. You have to be prepared to cope with that, more or less
on your own. You are expected to report on those problems where devs see
them, via bugzilla or sometimes in the factory mail list.

You should at least dedicate a partition to it, leave your normal work
system isolated from it.

Warning: one of the new things in factory is grub2. How this can affect or
not your existing boot if you install it is unknown.
