Opensuse 12.2 Gnome graphics broken after update

I have an OpenSuSE 12.2 64-Bit Gnome installation on a PC with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 300 512MB.
The card was recognised fine and the graphical desktop (including login screen) was also fine after the initial installation.
I then updatged the system, and then the graphics were very much broken. The resolution was still the same, but serious artefacting (black, white, purple), the menus are distorted and the mouse is mostly gone.

Has anyone had similar phenomena?

Yes, kernel bug

Until a fix is released, either use ctrl+ alt + backspace to kill gdm when
you see the distortion, or remove splash=silent from bootline, or install
nvidia binary driver from the nvidia repo

Yes exactly the same problem, however CTRL+ALT+Backspace at Boot Up temporarily resolves the issue, haven’t succeeded with suggested fixes though…michael… waiting for bug fix?
