I gave a try of OpenSUSE 12.2 Beta2 as soon as possible, which is pretty good. It is really surprised that gnome shell works well (not fallback mode) out of box in Virtualbox. The only problem is that Yast crashed when I typed anything in the searching box of Software Management.
The error message is “YaST got signal 11 at YCP file PackagesUI.ycp:280
/sbin/yast2: line 427: 24095 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module “$@” “$SELECTED_GUI” $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS”

I saw that problem with YaST yesterday. I then updated (using the Factory repos)
to YaST version 2.23.0-1.2 and the problem is fixed.

Fortunately, “sudo zypper rm PackageKit” is OK if you need a work-around.
Sorry, I post the problem here to make sure it is a common bug, not my personal one. I am not sure it is good to report every problem to bugzilla. Anyway, I will go to bugzilla and leave here neat.

Apparently, it’s because deleting packagekit cause dependency problems
and, instead of showing the usual popup window of options to get round
the problem, Yast throws a hissy fit instead.

I’m using openSUSE12.1 + Tumbleweed and have seem this failure a few times.
Below is the first recorded output.
After one instance yast locked up the machine, which meant a manual reboot.
On this PC it does not seem detrimental.
The failure has not occurred on consecutive updates as I played with versions of soprano installs

Please post Tumbleweed crashes under Tumbleweed. This forum is for Beta only.
