Opensuse 12.2 battery problems

Hi,
I have a quite serious battery problem on my Asus laptop (x51lr) with Opensuse 12.2 KDE :

  • I can never come back from the sleep mode. I had the same problem with pclinuxos installed on it : No Hibernate or sleep mode since updated kernel on ASUS U53F(SOLVED), and with Opensuse 11.4 Gnome. No such problem with WinXP that was installed on the same comp 2 months ago.
  • My battery life is very low : around 30 min maximum. With Win XP, Opensuse 11.4, and pclinuxos, no such problem. When the battery is empty, the computer just suddently stops working without shutting down.
The notification apply tells me when I reboot after this that my battery is broken (only 46% usable), although it worked fine a few days before on different other OS.
    Thanx in advance.

So… I should trust the Opensuse battery manager and change my battery ?

the symptoms you describe tells me the battery is nearing its end of life…

computer batteries wear out (lose capacity over time and use)…

computer batteries lifetime is sensitive to discharge cycles and steps
taken to prolong life…

Ok, thak you, but as I said, the battery worked fine on Windows XP. That’s the strange thing…
