openSUSE 12.1 - System Benchmark Tool?

When I had Linux Mint 10 its **System Info **(actually a benchmark tool) had a feature to print a report (PDF) of ALL my system.

The SUSE 12.1 System Information:

  • Prints ONLY the current display
  • Automatically close the Print Dialog before I can change anything

What am I doing wrong :shame:

How can I get a printed report of everything on my system?

Is there a SUSE system benchmark tool (not just file-system benchmark)?

OPS - I use KDE Desktop.

I have seen the program on Mint in the past, can you look if it was that
one to be sure

I think there are no packages for openSUSE.

Hmm, just for fun I installed the package for RHEL 6 (don’t ask how, you
need to create a symlink for a broken dependency), it works.
I will fetch the src rpm and check how easy it is to build it on the OBS
for openSUSE (but I cannot look into this before in maybe 2 or 3 hours).

Yes, that is the actual module name for System Information utility.

But it is a text mode program that prints many pages of information, I don’t think we talk of
the same thing.

You are right Carlos:
The program Mint used to have is called hardinfo

In kde a gui tool is available kinfocenter (it is not really the same as
hardinfo in that it cannot print a benchmark report but otherwise similar)
I do not know a gnome tool.

Hi
Doesn’t look too bad to build, give me an hour or so to build/test.

Thanks, I quickly did a local build from the tarball, it lacks a -lm

Hi
Yes, I got it too, a missing devel file (libffi-devel)…

It’s building now, tested on SLED 11 SP2 x86_64…

Tested your rpm http://tinyurl.com/ca2rwnn for openSUSE 12.1 and it
works well.

:good: PLEASE, if and when you get it to work with openSUSE 12.1 KDE, could you let me know?

I would like to get a working package.

eMail: tecknode@cts.com

I downloaded malcom’s RPM and installed into my 12.1(x86_64)/KDE 4.8.4 system with Yast.

The desktop file is found in /usr/share/applications/hardinfo.desktop.
Copy that to your desktop folder, or start from the CLI.

Seems to work well, but I can’t compare to Mint; no experience.

Looks to be a useful GUI way to find a lot of system info.

Hi
It’s already built and working.
