Hi,
I have installed openSUSE 12.1 successfully on my Dell XPS 15 laptop. However, a problem still remains:
Reboot (be it via the command line or via the menu option on my desktop environment) causes the system to hang. The USB ports get powered off, the screen goes dark, but the CPU fan keeps running and the system is hung and only goes out with holding the power button for a few seconds.
Any suggestions? I tried returning to sysvinit instead of systemd, but it didn’t change anything.
Thanks.
Solved it. I was using the acpi_call module to disable the nVidia Optimus card (which was just wasting power) and was forgetting to re-enable it before rebooting.
When I added a line to the /etc/init.d/halt.local script to reenable it, now I can reboot the system flawlessly.*

Maybe you should think of reporting in Bugzilla. Maybe not, I don’t really
know what you are doing

Oh well, I undderstand.

Maybe not: acpi_call is a (somewhat buggy) kludge until nVidia takes a stand with relation to Optimus support in Linux (wish they would provide at least a way to disable the dedicated graphics card).*
